Hallelujah! Jesus is Risen!

For every Christian, the season of Spring is marked by the celebration of Easter or Resurrection Sunday. This year however is different from almost all other Easters that come to mind. And it’s because of the fact that we are celebrating today in our homes and separate from one another. But nothing, no war, or famine, or disease, can keep us from worshiping our God!

And today, we remember the day when our Lord Jesus Christ rose again from the dead after having been crucified three days before. He died in our place for our sins so that all who believe in Him will not die but have everlasting life in Him. And by His resurrection, Jesus once and for all defeated sin and death and proved that He was who He said He was all along, that He was God.

As we remember from our own homes today the unfailing love of God on the cross and the living hope we have in His resurrection, let us use this unique circumstance to be united as a church and intercede in prayer for those who are suffering during this time.

First, let us put our hope and our trust in Jesus Christ who is Lord over all viruses and diseases. Let us pray for healing and restoration. Let us pray for the wisdom of God to lead our government leaders. And most of all let us pray that the name of Jesus be glorified today through Christians all over the world proclaiming the Gospel of hope and life in our Risen Savior!

Heavenly Father,

I pray that Philippians ‭3:8-11‬ would become the overwhelming confession and conviction of our hearts today as we remember the victory in Jesus! This is what the Apostle Paul says, “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.”

You showed us perfect obedience, even to the point of death, even death on a cross. And so God highly exalted you and gave you the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I pray on behalf of my brothers and sisters today. Forgive us our sins as we so easily forget your love and sacrifice. Let us be captivated by Your amazing grace so that we would count everything as loss, even through all our sufferings, in order that we might gain Jesus and be found in Him!

And give us the strength and courage and boldness to remain faithful to You even when there are storms around us and in our lives. In You, we have peace. In this world we will have trouble but we take heart knowing You overcame the world.

We love you Jesus.
Thank you Jesus.

And it is by Your resurrection we are able have full confidence to know God hears all our prayers when we pray,

In Jesus name.
Amen.
