2013 Beijing, China

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

2 Corinthians 4:7

When I was in college, I had the privilege and joy of traveling around the world and Beijing was one of the most memorable cities I visited. After getting married, it was one of the cities I wanted to introduce to my wife to the most. And when we had the opportunity to go in 2013, it was truly a dream come true.

The most incredible thing was experiencing the providence of God during our trip. We had one week scheduled to spend in the city and on the third day, I wanted to take my wife on a tour of the old neighborhood that I used to live in. We entered a café that I used to frequent often and what do we see? Many of the friends I made in Beijing all those years ago just happened to be hanging out at the café on that exact day and at that exact time!

We had come to Beijing without any contacts and what the world might think as simply serendipitous, I knew was the hand of God. Reacquainted with my friends, my wife was able to hear about all the adventures I had experienced all those years ago through the words of my friends. And we were able to spend the rest of the week visiting with them and our trip to Beijing turned out to be an even more precious and memorable time because of them.
