2024 Kilosa, Tanzania

I went on missions to Tanzania for the third consecutive year with many circumstantial worries and difficulties. The first few days were difficult to be focused. But thankfully, even though the experience of missions in Tanzania might have been familiar, missions in Tanzania cannot ever be taken lightly. In addition, we were ministering in the village of Kilosa which is dominated by Islam with a Muslim college and many mosques with their loudspeaker prayers echoing from the early morning hours through the valley.

It was a summer I needed to learn to trust in God unlike ever before. How else would I learn to trust if I was not in need? I had to learn through experience that in this life, we must learn to carry both sorrow and joy at the same time. In Christ, we are able.

P.S. This summer’s theme was “Kumtegemea Mwokozi” which is the Swahili title translation for the hymn “Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus.”

When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?

Psalm 56:3-4
